Methods of sale in Queenstown

Find the right approach for your property

The way you sell influences how buyers engage with your property and how offers are considered. Our Queenstown team can help you weigh the options against your goals, the characteristics of your home, competing listings and recent comparable sales.

Auction

An auction sets a date for buyers to bid under the auction terms. Buyers generally need to complete their due diligence and arrange finance before bidding, because a successful bid is normally unconditional. The seller sets a reserve price in consultation with the agent. A property may sell before or after the auction if the seller agrees.

Deadline sale

A deadline sale invites buyers to submit offers by a specified date and time. Those offers can have different conditions, deposits and settlement dates. Ask whether the seller may consider an offer before the deadline and how offers will be presented. The seller does not have to accept an offer.

Negotiation or advertised price

A negotiation campaign invites buyers to make offers for consideration, while an advertised price gives buyers a published asking price or price indication. Offers may include conditions and settlement dates that can be discussed. Your salesperson can explain which approach may fit your property and the current market.

Look beyond the headline price

Consider finance, building and other conditions, deposit, timing and the buyer’s ability to proceed. Ask how the marketing budget, campaign schedule and feedback will be managed. Your independent lawyer should advise you on the agreement before you sign.
